Lethbridge College defeat St. Mary's University

St. Mary's University Womens' mission was to have success over Lethbridge College after disappointing loss to Ambrose University last weekend. But the defending ACAC Champions had their hands full with the much improved Lethbridge College Kodiaks.

Kodiaks came out early in the 1st quarter and put the Lightning on the defense. Madi Gladstone (Lethbridge) had 4 points and Juhee Anderson contributed 6 points to give the Kodiaks a 9 point lead after the 1st quarter. Turnovers and missed shots were the enemy for the Lightning shooting 26.5% compared the Kodiaks 55% (11-20) Leading scorer for the Lightning was Emily Wagner with 5 points. 

Second quarter was a scrambled with combined 29 points started to gain traction with Hannah Helton 3 - 3pointers . She finished the 2nd quarter with 10 points. Kodiaks were having a difficulty in breaking the press and created numerous turnovers.  First half ended with Lethbridge College leading by 4.

Third quarter started the same way as the 2nd quarter. Lightning had sustained pressure and Helton's 8 points with some help from Joy Victor (6 points) . St. Mary's had their largest lead of 8 points. Kodiaks storm back to take the lead by 2 points late in the quarter and had contribution from 5 different players (15 points) Quarter closed with both teams with 49 points

Kodiaks found the key to unlock the half court press trap. Trap created openings for Kodiak players and Gladstone took control with 6 points all from creating fouls under the hoop and free throws were granted. Lightning's trio of Sydney Deighton, Emily Wagner and Hannah Helton had all the scoring for St. Mary's. Little too late
