Lions Beat Late By Kodiaks

Lions Beat Late By Kodiaks

Tonight the Ambrose Lions welcomed the Lethbridge Kodiaks to the Den in a matchup of 1-0 teams (both teams winning their opening weekend game).  After scoring a program high 97 points in their first game the Ambrose Lions Women's Basketball team looked to repeat on a similar offensive performance.

Unfortunately for the Lions a poor 2nd half would lead to them only scoring a total of 52 points and ultimately losing their first of the season.   Caitlyn Hetrick led the Lions tonight scoring a total of 18 points and was awarded with Player of the Game recognition for the Lions.

After leading at the half 36-32, the Lions kept in close in a low scoring 3rd quarter as they were down by only 1 after 3 quarters of play.  While the Lions got good looks in throughout the game, their shots didn't fall as they did opening night in the Den.   Deedee Matich had another strong game behind the 3 point line, going 4-10.

Courtney Peterson and Shayna Mathison both had really strong games for the Kodiaks, scoring double digit points and Peterson also managed to bring down 8 rebounds (good enough for Player of the Game recognition for Lethbridge).  Both Mathison and Peterson had a strong 4th quarters, leading their team to victory and their 2nd win of the season.
