Vikings take Back-to-Back series against Keyano

Camrose, AB - The Augustana Women's Basketball was able to pick up two wins this weekend against the visiting Keyano Huskies. Final score on Saturday was 77-71.

The first ten minutes of play saw the Vikings trailing slightly, but they were able to tie it up at 18-18 before the second period. Within the next quarter the Huskies were able to sink just a couple more shots than the Vikings, heading into halftime with a lead of 40-37. The Huskies kept their lead throughout the third with several jumpers by Augusta Keivisaite. Going into the last quarter the score was 57-55 for Keyano. Both teams picked up several fouls; this is what ended up giving Augustana the win as they had several players shoot two for two from the free throw line.

On the Keyano Huskies side the Player of the Game Award was given to Augusta Keivisaite, fifth year forward, who picked up 21 points and 6 rebounds. Moiyan Toure chipped in 19 points and Sarah MacDonald added another 15.

Second year point guard, Jessica Haenni, finished the game with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists as well as the Player of the Game Award for the Augustana Vikings. Samantha Dargis added 15 more points while Hannah Mitchell pitched in 12.
