Ambrose Scores Record Points In Victory Over Queens

It was a lively atmosphere in the Lions Den this evening as the Ambrose Lions challenged the Red Deer Queens in their 2018 ACAC Home Opener.  Ambrose jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back as at half the score remained in the Lions favor, 44-32, and the game finished with a final score of 97-78  A standout performance by veteran Deedee Matich, saw the Lions dominate throughout the first 3 quarters.  In the 4th the Queens closed the Lions lead from a 35 point deficit early in the 4th quarter to 19 at the end of the game.  The Lions were able to achieve a ACAC program record scoring their most ever points in a game with 97. Ambrose saw a very even spread attack, as 5 of their players scored double digit points.   Freshman forward, Kariya Bruised Head, had a strong showing for her first game with the Lions and was among those with double digit points scoring 15 this evening.  The Lions worked extremely hard and well together as a unit (recording a total of 31 assists throughout the game) and saw their hard work pay off in a victory.  Other key performances from Ambrose saw Catarina Dimonekene score 20 points, have 6 rebounds and 7 assists.  For the Queens Paige Schultz and Sandra Garcia Bernal carried the offence score 13 and 12 points respectively.
