Ooks Fly By Wolves

On Friday night, the NAIT Ooks took on the visiting Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves at the NAIT gymnasium. After a close game between the Ooks and Wolves that went to five sets, the Ooks won 3-2.

Both teams came out strong in the first set, and the Ooks were looking to take the lead with a massive hit from number five, Carter Hills, but the Wolves defensive block shut it down by number ten, Josh Dumont and fifteen, Justice Bigstone. The Wolves were effectively shutting down the Ooks' offence and leaving the Ooks struggling to get the ball over the net. The Ooks were finally gaining some momentum, closing the point gap. The Wolves dominated the net with huge blocks from number nine, Thomas Wheeler and four, Kaden Bennett. The Ooks' momentum was changing with a great hit from number eight, Jared Robert. The Ooks were able to tie it up and finally take the lead with a killer hit from number five, Carter Hills. The Ooks, in an amazing, come back the take the set, 25-23 and lead the game 1-0.

The Wolves took the lead early in the second set with a significant hit from the outside by number ten Josh Dumont. The Ooks struggled defensively to defend against the Wolves. The Ooks began to close the point gap with great offensive kills by number fifteen, Shae McIntyre and five, Carter Hills. The Ooks managed to tie up the set; however, it didn't last long, with the Wolves taking the lead back with a massive kill from number fifteen, Justice Bigstone. As the Wolves held their lead, the Ooks once again tied things back up, and the Ooks finally took the lead with a kill from number five Carter Hills. The set was neck and neck, and the Ooks continued to hold onto their lead with a great offensive play from Jace Spinney with a perfectly placed tip. The Ooks held onto their lead and took the set, 25-21. The Ooks led the game 2-0 over the Wolves.

Once again, the Wolves took an early lead over the Ooks. The Ooks took the lead with a killer hit from number fifteen, Shae McIntyre. The Wolves momentum seemed to shift as number fifteen, Justice Bigstone, made a great tip. The Ooks continued to hammer the Wolves with massive hits from number five Carter Hills and McIntyre. Ooks controlled the net with huge blocks from players Jared Robert, Ross Bishop and Alex Schultz. The Wolves had closed the gap tying the score and taking the lead with a big back-row kill from number ten, Josh Dumont. The Wolves took the second set 25-20. Ooks still lead the game with a score of 2-1.

Both teams came out strong in the fourth set, but the Wolves managed to take the lead. Coming out of the timeout, the Ooks began to close the point gap with great offensive kills from number fifteen, Shae McIntyre. Nonetheless, the Wolves continued to hold the lead with number fifteen, Justice Bigstone making huge offensive plays. Ooks slowly began to close the large point gap the Wolves had created with great hits from number fifteen, Shae McIntyre and sixteen, Alex Schultz; however, it wasn't enough, and the Wolves took the set, 25-15, to tie the game 2-2.

In the fifth final set, the Ooks took the lead early, with the Wolves quickly tying it back up. The game stayed neck and neck, with the lead changing hands between the Ooks and Wolves. The Ooks started to pull ahead with great offensive tips from number nine, Ross Bishop. The Wolves didn't let them get far, tying it up with a great back-row hit from number ten, Josh Dumont, but the Ooks' defence quickly shut them down with a massive block from number eleven, Felix Dufour. The Ooks continued to dominate the net with a huge block from number fifteen, Shae McIntyre. Ooks took the set with a 15-9 win and won the game 3-2.

The players of the game were number fifteen, Shae McIntyre from the Ooks and number three, Brandon Steel from the Wolves.
