Ooks Lose Close Match to Broncos

On Saturday night, the NAIT Ooks played the Olds College Broncos at the NAIT gymnasium. The Broncos took home the win 3-1 over the Ooks.

In the first set, the Ooks took the lead early with a killer block from Shae McIntyre and Ross Bishop. The momentum was shifting, and the Ooks were gaining on the Broncos with fantastic plays from Jace Spinney and blocks from McIntyre and Felix Dufour. The Ooks were falling behind as the Broncos dominated the net. The Ooks slowly began to close the gap with great defensive blocks from McIntyre and Dufour. It was too late in the set, though, as the Broncos took the first set with a kill from Matheus Franca. The Broncos took the first set with a score of 25-18, leading the game 1-0.

Neither team was willing to let the other get ahead in the second set. The Ooks finally managed to break away with massive kills from Shae McIntyre. The Ooks were gaining momentum, with the Broncos closely trailing behind them. The Broncos tied it up and were picking up speed. The Ooks regained the lead and held tightly to it. The Broncos closed the gap with a massive offensive kill by Matheus Franca. It was a tight set at the end, but the Ooks took it, winning 29-27 to tie the game. 

In the third set, it was neck and neck until the Broncos started to break away with defensive blocks from Stahinja Lazarevic and Aidyn Phillips. The Ooks struggled to gain momentum and get the ball across the Broncos' blocks. Momentum shifted for the Ooks following a huge block from Ross Bishop and Shae McIntyre.. The Broncos weren't  letting up on their lead and continued to hold it with a great kill from Matheus Franca. Following a timeout the Ooks gained momentum with huge hits from Carter Hills. As the Ooks closed the gap the Broncos scrambled to keep their lead. The Broncos held onto their lead to close out the set with a 25-21 win, and lead the game 2-1.

In the fourth set Broncos took the lead with huge blocks from number Stahinja Lazarevic and Reed Grusing. The Ooks weren't far behind and tied the set back up with killer outside block from Shae McIntyre and Ross Bishop. The Ooks took the lead with great tip from Carter Hills. The Broncos weren't far behind with a hit right through the Ooks block, but the Ooks weren't giving up their lead. Ooks held on to their lead with a perfectly place tip from Ross Bishop. Ooks continued to dominate the set leading the Broncos to call a timeout. However the Ooks weren't letting up and continued to dominate the net both defensively and offensively. The Broncos were able to tie it back up and take the match.

The players of the game were number three, Jace Spinney from the Ooks and number six, Matheus Franca from the Broncos.
