Clippers Win Out in Four Against the Rattlers

The Briercrest Clippers played host to the Medicine Hat Rattler's in a Sunday night Volleyball matchup in Caronport, SK. 

Both teams opened well, recording several service aces each in the first set. Neither team had much of an edge over the other early, with the teams always within a couple of points of each other on the scoreboard. The Clippers pulled ahead 18-14 later in the set, which saw a Rattler's timeout. Out of the break, Briercrest held firm to their lead throughout the remainder of the set and won the first set by a score of 25-22.  

In the second set, the Clippers got out to a strong start, playing well on both sides of the ball.  This saw them lead by a margin of as much as 6, up 9-3 of the Rattlers. Medicine Hat managed to narrow the gap to only 2 points in the middle of the set. Briercrest turned up the heat after this though and surged ahead to a 25-16 second set victory.  

The third set showed that Medicine Hat was not going to go down without a fight. The Rattlers started strong and consistently held leads over the Clippers throughout the set. After a Briercrest timeout with the gap extending, the Clippers tied up the game in the latter stages of the set. The  

game saw several exciting rallies late, as the teams traded leads throughout. In the end, Medicine  Hat took a 26-24 victory over Briercrest to push the fourth set.  

In the fourth set, the game had similar tones as the third, with the roles slightly reversed. It was  Briercrest who looked determined to secure their victory early on with a strong start. Medicine  Hat kept battling through and tied the game up at 20 late which saw a Briercrest timeout. The  Clippers lead by two after, which saw a Rattler's timeout in turn. After some more back and forth, and another Clippers timeout, it was Briercrest who defeated Medicine hat in the fourth and final set by a score of 26-24.  

The ACAC Player of the game award for the Medicine Hat Rattler's was awarded to #3 Nathan Chernik who recorded 16 kills, 6 digs, and 4 assists.  

For the Briercrest Clipper's the award went to #8 Tanner Bean, who had 5 Aces, 3 Kills, 3 Digs, and 3 Blocks in the match.
