OLDS, AB - Olds College Broncos Men's Volleyball team won 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 26-24) to the SAIT Trojans at the Home Opener for Olds College on Friday November 12, 2021. 

The SAIT Trojans started the first set off strong claiming the first couple points. The Olds College Broncos quickly caught up after gaining possession early on in the set. The Broncos continued their momentum taking a slight lead  6-4 against the Trojans. Although early in the game, both SAIT Trojans and Olds College Broncos increased their intensity as points continued back and forth. The set remained close and at point 9 it was tied. From there the Broncos gained a 4 point lead 13-9 after consistent play. A time out is called by SAIT and following that, the game heats up as SAIT comes back hard to tie 13-13. Broncos calls a time out of their own and gain a slight lead afterward resulting from consistent serves and strong blocks. Points go back and forth and the final point of the set is earned by a serve from the Broncos #6 Matheus Franca to win the first set 27-25.

The second game starts off strong by both teams. Points go back and forth as a one point game until SAIT takes a lead of 11-7. The Broncos pick up their game to tie 13-13 in the middle of the set. Intensity continues as points fly back and forth until the very end of the set when the Broncos take a final block earning the last point of the set to finish 25-23 against the Trojans.

SAIT Trojans starts the third set off strong and in the lead. This set consisted of more rallying than the last two as Olds College Broncos fight to catch up. SAIT continue to keep a close lead until point 20 where the two teams tie. At this point the Broncos take a two point lead. SAIT ramps up their intensity to remain in the game and ties at point 24. After Broncos earn point 25 off a hit, they finish strong with a serve that will earn them the final point of the set for a final score of 26-24. This third and final set resulted in the Olds College Broncos to take their first victory of the season at their home opener against the SAIT Trojans.

The player of the game for SAIT Trojans went to #15 Ryan Zachary and to Olds CollegeBroncos #6 Matheus Franca

The Olds College Broncos will play their second game of the season on Saturday November 13 against the SAIT Trojans at SAIT.
