Eagles too much for Thunder in exhibition play

Edmonton, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder continued their exhibition schedule Saturday night as they welcomed The King's University Eagles. After falling in the first two sets, the Thunder were able to take the third, but couldn't get any closer as the Eagles closed the game out 3-1.
The first set saw King's come out strong, as they jumped to an early lead and never looked back, taking the set 25-16. The second set was a tighter matchup, but the Eagles were able to ride their momentum through to take the second set 25-20. The third set was a different story, as the Thunder jumped out to a quick lead. The Eagles made things interesting late in the set, but the Thunder held on for the 25-23 set victory. The Eagles were able to bounce back in the fourth set, taking it 25-21 to close out the game 3-1.
After the game, third year Thunder outside Wyatt Turnbull liked the development his team is showing: "we had great improvement and showed good creativity in the open space, we look forward for the games to come." Head Coach Ken McLaughlin added: "I'm quite pleased to get a set win to build some momentum for our group this pre-season. I saw a strong performance from Kyle Robertson as well coming in off the bench for the third and fourth sets."
The Thunder continue their exhibition schedule next Friday as they visit the NAIT Ooks.
