Rattlers barely hold on to beat Lions

Rattlers barely hold on to beat Lions

After losing in straight sets to the Rattlers in Medicine Hat, the Lions looked to bounce back and tie the season series at 2 wins each.

Tonight was a story of 2 halves.  To start the game, Ambrose started Nikita Marchenkov in the place of Adrian Strandberg.  While the Lions trailed in the early parts of the first set, they did get the game tied at 17.  At 17 all, Aleksa Zivic, went back to serve for the Rattlers, and he would end up serving out the set, going on a 8 point run thanks to 4 aces.

Set 2, saw MHC win the set again win the set fairly handily, 25-19.

The 3rd set however saw the game change in momentum.  Aiden McMillan came in to take over setting duties for the Lions and completely changed the momentum of the game starting with a 6 point serving run early in the set putting the Lions up 12-3.  The Lions played with a new belief after that and go on to win both the 3rd and 4th sets.

In the 5th set however, Ambrose's momentum would come to a halt as a desperate Medicine Hat team would go on to serve extremely well in the set, putting a lot of pressure on the passing of the Lions.  Both Aleksa Zivic and Zachary Ferstly would lead the Rattlers from the service line in the set.

After the game, player of the game awards were presented to Jovan Stepanovic and Stephen Jones. The Lions get one last weekend of play and will look to continue off of their improved play tonight in the final weekend of play, against Olds, next Friday and Saturday.
