OLDS, Alta. - The Ambrose University Lions' persistence paid off, coming from behind to defeat the Olds College Broncos in four sets at the Ralph Klein Centre.

Adam Morris led the attack for the Lions (3-16) with 18 kills to go with eight digs and four service aces, while Adrian Strandberg hit double figures in both categories, finishing with 16 kills, 12 digs and three aces.

Jesse Stoddart countered with 15 kills and 12 digs for the Broncos (0-17), while Haiden Hurtig also had a strong outing with 11 kills, seven digs and two service aces.

The match was part of Olds College's RBC Game Night as part of the ACAC's Make Some Noise for Mental Health initiative.

The opening set was a back-and-forth affair, with Ambrose eventually getting a bit of separation. However, the Broncos countered late in the set, sending it to extra points before taking the opener 27-25.

After a strong start from the Broncos to open the second, the Lions settled down and took control, pushing ahead midway through the set to take a 25-21 victory to level the match at one set apiece.

The third set followed a very similar formula to the second, with the Lions taking the lead by an identical 25-21 margin.

The fourth set was tightly contested on both sides, though the Broncos were unable to take advantage of their opportunities as the Lions closed it out with a 25-22 victory.

Morris and Stoddart earned the player of the game awards for their respective sides.

Olds College and Ambrose University will wrap up their season series in Calgary on Saturday at 8 p.m.
