MVB | Kodiaks upset SAIT Trojans in a four set match

January, 19th - The Kodiaks went into Saturday nights home and home match looking to upset the Trojans once more, as well as lengthen their winning streak.

Both teams began the match guarded as they both knew how competitive their counterparts were. Nonetheless, they both demonstrated a lot of passion and energy on the floor.

Both teams struggled to maintain any kind of lead as the first set went point for point. This caused frustration for both coaches as they were forced into calling timeouts to set some kind of fire under their players feet.

The Trojans eventually found their spark near the end of the first set as they shifted ahead of the Kodiaks, winning set one with a score of 25-23.

As the second set began, Lethbridge came out with more power and spirit. Fourth year, Carter Hansen of Lethbridge Kodiaks made six tremendous kills driving his team to victory over set two.

First year, Nicholas Berscht did everything in his power to defend against Hansen's kills by making five digs of his own but it was not enough in this set. The Kodiaks took this one with a score of 25-17.

Things continued to look up for Lethbridge as they brought their ferocious stamina into set three. Hansen was able to make three aces in the third set and four throughout the entire game. The Kodiaks closed out set three with a score of 25-17.

Tension increased in set four as the Trojans became desperate to stay in the game. Lethbridge was quick to take advantage of any error SAIT gave them which ultimately kept them ahead in set four. The Kodiaks would end the game after the fourth set with a score 25-23.

With this win, Lethbridge increases their streak by one, leaving them with 16 straight wins. The Kodiaks will travel to Briercrest next weekend in hopes of keeping their streak alive.
