Kodiaks Remain Perfect. Rattlers fall at Home.

The first place Lethbridge Kodiaks Headed east to face off against their Southern Alberta Rivals, Medicine Hat. The Rattlers hoped to recover from an embarrassing 3 sets loss to the Kodiaks Thursday Night. The Home side came out quick, Jumping out to an early lead. The Kodiaks were able to capitalize on 2 Rattlers errors before stealing the momentum and tying the set at 6. An ace from Zach Frank and Medicine Hat regained their advantage. The Rattlers were once again called for being on the net and Let the Kodiaks take away this advantage. Another sloppy attack, and the Rattlers found themselves trailing by 2. The Kodiaks at this point were simply making less mistakes than the home side. This continued as the Kodiaks extended their lead with the help of some solid defense and a struggling Rattlers squad. Late in the set, Lethbridge continued their dominance from the day before holding a 23-16 lead. This forced the Rattlers team to take a timeout. This was too little too late as the Kodiaks continued their winning ways 25-17.

The second set started with a quick two points from the Rattlers. This was answered by the Kodiaks with 2 of their own. Medicine Hat appeared to be more focused coming in to the second. With mistakes being minimized, the Home side was able to stay with the First Place Kodiaks. Teams seemed to be finding their groove midway into the set. This gave the Kodiaks an advantage midway as they took a 4 point lead. In an attempt to change some momentum and focus key players, The Rattlers made some quick in and out substitutions. This did not do much as the Kodiaks were able to keep their lead. 5 missed serves from Medicine Hat and a serious lack of communication on the floor helped the Kodiaks. Lethbridge continued to dig up Rattler attacks and forced a set point at 19-24. 2 big defensive plays from Medicine Hat gave them a breath of life late. But again too little too late as the Kodiaks took the second set 25-21.

The Third set started with teams trading Sideouts all the way up to their deadlock at 6. The first break came for the Kodiaks as they were able to extend a small lead. The Home side did not give up. The Rattlers came back to tie and even take the lead 13-12. With 3 straight points, The Kodiaks were able to retake their lead. What was supposed to be a home court advantage was flipped by the volume from the travelling Kodiak fans. This elation spurred on the Kodiaks who continued to push hard. The Visitors took a 6 point lead, 21-15, all but sealing the match. The match was close to out of reach and the Rattlers battled hard to stay in the match, but it was too little too late as the Kodiaks rolled 25-20 and 3 sets to 0.
