OOKS TAKE OVER VIKINGS GYM DESPITE FAN SUPPORT

OOKS TAKE OVER VIKINGS GYM DESPITE FAN SUPPORT

Camrose, AB -

Visiting NAIT Ooks took the lead from hometown Augustana Vikings and never gave it up, despite the crowd cheering heavily for the Vikings success.

Vikings started the game out a little bit flat, falling quickly to the Ooks plays. Over the course of the first set, Vikings managed to stay close on the scoreboard all the way to the end, eventually falling to a 28-26 win of the set by the Ooks. That one set win was all the Ooks needed to get the train rolling and pretty soon Augustana was overpowered by the Ooks. The second and third sets played out the same way; the Ooks taking an early lead and the Vikings failing to mount a challenge. Vikings played hard but were slightly outplayed by the Ooks this time around.

Much of the Ooks success can be credited to #3, Mitch Lewington, who came out of the game with 23 assists. Taking home player of the game for the Vikings is #17, Lyndon Varga, with 9 kills and 2 blocks. In the end, fan support did not entice the Vikings to come out on top but it sure was a loud gym and the support is appreciated.
