Kodiaks battle hard, fall short to Huskies

The Second semi-final matchup featured the Keyano Huskies and Lethbridge Kodiaks. The game seemed higher energy than the previous semi right out of the gate. With fan support from both schools, both teams saw a high level of support in the Snake Pit. The Huskies exploded out of the gate in the first. They were outscoring the Kodiaks almost 2-1 and leading 14-8 quickly in the set. The Kodiaks battled back and evened the set at 20 slowly making up distance the whole middle of the set. At the end of the set, the Huskies turned up the pressure and were able to close out the first winning 25-21.

The second set started with the teams trading serves. This continued and most serves were scored by the receiving team, only a few balls ever made it over the net twice. Offence was at a premium in this set, dominating blocks and digs. Teams tied at 22, neither seemed to budge as offence was the name of the set. Trying to breakthrough in anyway possible, Lethbridge started setting their big hitters and rode their power to a second set win, 25-23

Now a best of 3, the third set would be crucial for both teams to win. The Kodiaks exploded out of the gate leading 10-5 early. The Huskies Rallied hard and tied the game at 12. Both teams struggled to hold momentum for any stretch of time. The ebb and flow of the game was centered around big hits and powerful kills. Long rallies were absent as both teams could not dig up many of the powerful hits coming from both directions. The Huskies made 2 crucial blocks late and opened up their lead. This small lead allowed them to win the set 25-22

A back and forth fourth set saw both teams hold the lead at one point. Both teams tied at 11, the Huskies went on a 7-1 run opening an insurmountable lead for the Kodiaks to overcome. There was no quit in the Kodiaks who still fought hard for every ball, swinging as hard as they could on the attack. It was too big a lead however, as the Huskies Dominated the deciding set winning 25-15
