Kings Take Friday Matchup Against Clippers 3-2

The Briercrest Clippers hockey team took on the first ranked Red Deer Kings at home, hoping to inch their way closer to the top of the league and an insured playoff spot.

#15 Colton Aikens kicked off the scoring in the first period putting it in the net for the Clippers assisted by  #5 Halen Cordoni and #55 Cole Stevenson, before the Kings answered back at the very end of the first period with #11 Chance Longjohn scoring off of an assist by #12 Nolan Doell, making the game 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The second period saw multiple power-play opportunities for the Clippers which they were not able to capitalize on. Shortly into the second, #73 Hayden Clayton found the net for the Kings off of the feed by #11 Chance Longjohn and #14 Parker Gavlas. This goal would be the only one scored in the second period. The Kings led 2-1 headed into the third.

The Kings extended their lead to two off a goal by #12 Nolan Doell off of assists by #20 Ryland McNinch and #10 Tanner Sklaruk. The Clippers fought tooth and nail to get back into the game and found the net with 25 seconds left in the game, with #7 Jacob Arsenault scoring off of assists by #4 Trey Doell and #11 Reagan Poncelet. The Clippers were unable to tie it up with limited time remaining as the Kings took the game 3-2.

The player of the game awards were presented to #11 Chance Longjohn for the Kings, who finished with a goal and assist, and #7 Jacob Arsenault for the Clippers, who finished with a goal.
