Trojans fill the net in win over Ooks

CALGARY, ALTA., (Jan. 27, 2023) - After watching a late lead slip away a week prior, the SAIT Trojans men's hockey team left no doubt this time out.

The Trojans skated their way to a one-sided 7-2 victory over the NAIT Ooks on Friday night in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) contest played Friday night at Winsport Arena.

Last week, the Trojans gave up two goals late in the third period before losing in overtime to the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings. Up 5-2 in the final period this time around and the Trojans shut the door, allowing nothing in the remaining 20 minutes to cement the win.

SAIT, who entered the contest tied for first in the ACAC standings, improve to 11-6 on the season. NAIT falls to 7-8.

Kaden Hanas and Brandon Machado led the Trojans with a goal and two assists each, while teammate Brett Trentham scored twice against his former team.

Also scoring for SAIT was Tanner Sidaway, Zach Cox and Dylan Clark added goals for the Trojans.

Colin Schmidt and Dylan Stewart replied for the Ooks.
