EDMONTON, AB (March 13, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Augustana Vikings Sunday night in a do or die game three finale of their ACAC Semi-Final series. A back and forth matchup with both goalies stealing the show, the Thunder were able to breakthrough in overtime to punch their ticket to the ACAC finals.

The goalies were locked in early, keeping the score level and fending off numerous chances for both teams. The Vikings were able to breakthrough first, as #19 Quintin Sudom scored a powerplay marker to give Augustana a 1-0 lead with just under seven minutes to play in the first. The Thunder answered right back, as #4 Xavier Parenteau scored on a delayed penalty two minutes later to tie things up 1-1. The goalies took things the rest of the way in the period, with Griffin Bowerman making 11 stops for the Thunder and Daniel Moody stopping 14. The second period was more of the same, as Bowerman and Moody kept things level. Augustana outshot Concordia 16-12 in the period, but weren't able to solve Bowerman. The goalie display continued in the third period, but this time with Moody shutting the door. The Thunder outshot the Vikings 11-5 in the period, but the 1-1 score line stood as the Thunder couldn't solve Moody and Bowerman shut the door for Concordia. For the second time in the three game series, these two teams headed to overtime. Both teams kicked it into another gear as they exchanged chances looking for the winner, but neither team was able to solve the others goaltending. Finally, just over four minutes into the overtime period, Thunder defencemen Scott Allan picked up a rebound and buried it into the Augustana net to give the Thunder the 2-1 overtime win, and to punch CUE's ticket to the ACAC Men's Hockey Final.

The One Team Sports Players of the Game were #39 Daniel Moody for the Augustana Vikings and #2 Scott Allan for the Thunder.

The Thunder season continues next weekend as they open up the ACAC Finals against the NAIT Ooks. CUE will open the series on the road, but return to Clareview for game two. Dates and times for the series will be finalized in the coming days.
