Tmej and Clippers take game two of quarter-final, face Ooks in semis

Red Deer, AB – The Briercrest College Clippers have advanced to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) :Men's Hockey Semi-finals.
On the strength of a 39 save performance from goaltender Dominik Tmej, the Clippers downed the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings 5-3.
The visitors opened the scoring at 2:24. Ryan Miley fired one past netminder Arik Weersink on the short side
The Kings power play went to work minutes later. On a five-on-three, RDP moved the puck around, finding North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game Tyler Pogorenko in the middle of the ice. The captain ripped it over Dominik Tmej's glove for the equalizer.
Midway through the frame, Briercrest went up one. A centring pass went off Caleb Grandfield and it found a way across the goal line.
Before the end of the stanza, the home team evened the contest. Jacob Kendall's initial shot was stopped, but Chance Longjohn found Kyle Salaway stationed at the right side of the net. Salaway, an Electrical Engineering Technology student, quickly released it behind an outstretched Tmej to even it up 2-2.
Four minutes into the middle frame, the Clippers went up one. As Briercrest's penalty just expired, Jacob Arsenault raced up the left, finding room on the glove side.
Only 17 second into the third period, the home team knotted it up 3-3. Lloydminster's Easton Haygrath deposited a loose puck into the net.
Midway through the final frame, Briercrest scored shorthanded. Using a defender as a screen, Zachary Anderson scored from the high slot.
With Weersink on bench, Brandon Kelly hit the empty net, solidifying a 5-3 decision.
Caleb Grandfield was named the Clippers top performer.
The Kings went one-for-five on the power play. The Clippers couldn't score on five opportunities.
The Briercrest College Clippers will advance to the semi-finals against the top seed NAIT Ooks.
The University of Alberta Augustana Vikings defeated the SAIT Trojans in their quarter-final series, and will face the Concordia University Thunder in the semi-finals.
