Thunder Beat Clippers To Sweep Weekend Series

EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Briercrest Clippers to Claireview Arena for a Saturday matinee to close out their weekend series. The Thunder maintained control throughout the game as they came away with a 7-2 win to sweep the weekend series.

The first period saw the Thunder open the scoring only three minutes into the game, and then added another a few minutes later on the power play. Briercrest added one late to make the score 2-1 Concordia after one. Briercrest came out of the gate firing and scored one early in the second to tie the game up, but Concordia added two quick ones of their own halfway through the period to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission. From that point on, it was all Concordia as they scored three more in the third to take the game 7-2.

This concludes the weekend series between the Thunder and Clippers, with the Thunder sweeping both games. The Thunder will return to action next weekend as the ACAC playoffs begin.

The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #44 Caleb Grandfield for the Clippers and #22 Aaron Petten for the Thunder.
