Vikings win against Thunder

What better way to spend Valentine's Day than to play hockey? That is just what the two teams Augustana Vikings and Concordia Thunder did Friday night. 

 

Both teams were ready to play as the puck dropped at 7:30. 

 

The game had a lot of goals scored, and had the fans engages throughout. Vikings #16 Evan Warmington scored the first goal of the game within a few minutes of the started. #16 Evan Warmington was assisted from Vikings #24 Cody Fiala and #12 Jase Smaleel. Thunder fought back with a goal from#37 Taylor Anshelm who was assisted by Thunder #3Evan Wood and #6 Ben Sowa. Within a minute of Thunders first goal, #8 Brandon Wallis scored a second with an assist from #14 Keegan Tiringer. Thunder #17 Curtis Peek scored the third goal for his team leading them into the end of the period. He was assisted by Thunder's #7 Adam Moghrabi and #12 Dante Tissi. The first period ended with a score of 3-1 for Thunder. 

After a pep talk from Vikings Head Coach Blaine Gusdal, Vikings came out stronger than ever with determination in their bones. Vikings #17 Adam Osczevski scored shortly after the second period started with an assist from #21 Jack Hamly. Vikings #22 Travis Mayan followed the goal with a goal of his own assisted by #21 Jack Hamly and #14 Ryan Groom. About 5 minutes later Vikings #10 Carter Danezak scored a gaol with assists from both #22 Travis Mayan and #20 Matthew Martin. Thunders Head Coach Joey Bouchard made line changes and shouted out words of advice in a hopes to motivate his team into scoring. Vikings #28 Lukas Biensch scored a goal with assists from #22 Travis Mayan and #14 Ryan Groom. The last goal of the second period was scored by Vikings #17 Adam Osczevski and assisted by #25 Owen Lamb and #4 Joe Tambasco. The second period finished with a score of 6-3 for Vikings. 

The third period went by quick with only one goal scored. It was a powerplay goal by Vikings #77 Quintin Sudom who was assisted by #9 Tavis Roch. Despite Thunders best effort they were unable to come out on top. The final score of the game was 7-1 for the Vikings. 

Player of the Game was awarded to the visiting Thunder's #37 Taylor Anshelm, and the hometown Vikings #39 Zach deGraves.
