Thunder and Trojans battle to a hard fought tie

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the visiting SAIT Trojans in Saturday night action. The Thunder and Trojans again needed extra time, with the game ending in a 5-5 tie.

The Thunder jumped out to an early 1-0, and withstood a pushback from SAIT to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. After exchanging goals early in the second, including a shorthanded marker from SAIT, the Thunder scored on the power play to extend their lead to two heading into the third period. The Thunder jumped early in the third period extending their lead to three goals, but the Trojans fought their way back into the game, tying it in the last minute. After a back and forth overtime, the teams both had to settle for a tie.

The tie ends a tough weekend for the Thunder against the SAIT Trojans. The two teams meet again later in the season with the Thunder looking to bounce back. The Thunder play at home next on November 1.
