Ooks Shutout Trojans

EDMONTON, ALTA. - Brendan Jensen made 26 saves as the NAIT Ooks shutout the SAIT Trojans 2-0 in ACAC men's hockey action on Friday night in the NAIT Arena.

The long and storied rivalry did not disappoint on Friday night as the ACAC's top teams when to battle. Shane Fraser opened up the scoring for the Ooks two minutes into the opening period by beating SAIT goaltender, Payton Lee off of a feed from Connor Vermeulen. That goal would prove to be pivotal as the game would get locked down after that.

Both teams took turns exchanging powerplay's and quality chances, but both goaltenders were standing tall. Jake Mykitiuk would eventually seal the game with a goal at 18:35 into the final period, giving the Ooks a 2-0 win. Shots were 30-26 in favour of NAIT. Brendan Jensen made 26 saves for his second shutout in three games.

"It was a good team win. We had contributions throughout the lineup. We need to be ready for tomorrow though, they (the Trojans) always play well in their barn," said Ooks' head coach, Tim Fragle following the game.
