Vikings couldn't overcome an early deficit

Camrose, AB - It's always an exciting night at EnCana Arena when the MacEwan Griffins are in town. Camrose always anticipates this exciting matchup where both teams play their hardest and best hockey. Griffins take this win with a scoreline of 6-2.

 

The Griffins opened scoring at 3:09 in the first period with a goal by number 20 Kaelan Holt. This goal was assisted by Correale and Smith. There were no other goals in the first period, but there was still plenty of action as the first period saw a total of 6 penalties.

 

The second period saw the Griffin's very own Smith score, followed by Magnes scoring 2 more to bring the scoreline to a 4-0 Griffins lead at the end of the second period. Magnes scored both his goals on power plays and was assisted on each of two goals. The rough play was continued into the second period with a total of 7 penalties.

 

Third period action included 2 goals by each team.The Vikings finally managed to find the net, scoring 2 goals in a row. The first at 6:59 by Ryan Groom, assisted by Osczeuski and Mayan. The second goal was by Osczeuski at 10.56 on the power play to bring the score line to a 4-2 Griffins lead. The Vikings looked to be on the verge of a comeback but a goal by Magnes for the Griffins followed by a goal from Smith brought the final scoreline to a 6-2 Griffins win. The third period saw two big penalties of 10 minutes, one given to number 10, Reagan of the Griffins and the other given to number 25, Gunville of the Vikings.

 

Shots were 33 for MacEwan and 31 for Augustana. Players of the Game were #17 Adam Osczevski, a third year, for the Vikings and #8 Garan Magnes, a first year, for the Griffins.
