Vikings Lose Their Penultimate Game of 2018

Camrose AB - The MacEwan Griffins drove down on the evening of Friday November 9, 2018 with freezing rain to play the Augustana Vikings in Camrose, Alberta the penultimate ACAC game for the Vikings for 2018.

Early on in the first period the Vikings scored 2 goals, closely followed by a third. The first goal was scored at 19:41 by 91 (Young), assisted by 16 (Warmington) and 11 (Sobchak) . The second goal was scored at 18:04 by 11 (Sobchak), unassisted. And the third goal was scored at 11:45 by 17 (Osczevski), assisted by 22 (Mayan) and 4 (Tambasco). At one point the 'shots on goal' for both teams was at 8 a little before the last 5 minutes of the first period. By the end of the first period the Griffins had 2 more 'shots on goal' than the Vikings, resulting in the Griffin's first goal. 

The Griffins scored their second goal on the Vikings by player number 21 (Njaa). This was shortly followed by scoring a third goal by player number 19 (Gotaas). The Griffins continued to score with a period end total of 5 scores to the Viking's 3 scores they made in the first period.

 In the third period the MacEwan Griffins scored 2 more goals while the Vikings were unable to score anymore goals. The 'shots on goal' was 31 for MacEwan 20 to Augustana. While the Viking made many shots, the Griffin goalie prevented the shots from scoring. The Griffins made great improvements in the second and third period while the Vikings were not able to maintain their initial success from the first period.

 The final goal was 8 for MacEwan to 3 for Augustana. Cody Young, number 91, received the Player of the Game Award for the Vikings. The Vikings goalie Curtis Skip received 25 shots and made 19 saves and Zach deGraves received 9 shots and made 7 saves. Jacob Schofield, number 13, received Player of the Game Award for the Griffins.  The Griffin goalie Marc-Olivier Daigle received 26 shots and made 23 saves. This game went to "Griffin"dor.
