Ooks Down The Clippers 8-4

EDMONTON, ALTA. - Tanner Dunkle's four-point night led the NAIT Ooks to an 8-4 victory over the Briercrest Clippers on Friday afternoon at the NAIT Arena. 

Shane Fraser opened up the scoring for the Ooks 5:40 into the first period. Tanner Dunkle added two more while Brayden Harris scored one of his own, to put NAIT up 4-0 after at the end of the first. 

Jarid Hauptman continued the scoring for the Ooks in the second period 6:05 into the period. Briercrest would finally get on the board when Austin Kozluk scored 10:33 into the period. Josh Boelema added another the Clippers before the end of the second to make it a 5-2 game after 40 minutes. 

Russell Owen opened up the scoring in the third to bring the Clippers within two, but the Ooks responded with three straight from Isaac Farrah, Dylan Stewart and Carson beers. Briercrest would add one more to make it 8-4, but that's where the game would end. Final shots were 67-24 for the Ooks. Players of the game were Jesse Roach from the Ooks and Josh Boelema for the Clippers. 

When asked about his team's performance NAIT's head coach Tim Fragle said, "We had an exceptional first period and started the second strong, but then we got a little loose." "We as coaches have to do a better job to get the most out of our guys to limit our inconsistencies."

The two teams will now rematch tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm in the NAIT arena.
