Men's Basketball Huskies complete perfect season with win over Lions

The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team extended their regular season winning streak to 44 games Saturday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. with a 101-64 victory against the visiting Ambrose University Lions. 

Leading by four after the first quarter, the Huskies blew the game open in the middle quarters with a 27-17 second and 28-12 third quarter. For good measure, they won the fourth quarter 22-15. 

Sean-Michael Clancey led all players with 25 points, four ahead of a 21-point effort from Stefan Jovcic. Taliik Ross scored 13 points and Keenen Caribou had 10 off the bench to make up a quartet of Huskies in double digits. Ross led the Huskies with 12 rebound and Clancey had 10 to give both double-doubles. 

Overall, the Huskies shot 55.7 percent from the field (39-for-70), making five three-point shots. They were almost perfect from the foul line, shooting 85.7 percent (18-for-21). 

The Lions' top scorer was Isaac Gray, who totalled 20 points for the visitors. Mateja Vukic was the only other Ambrose player in double digits, posting 14 points. 

During the game, the Lions shot 33.3 percent (20-for-60) from the field, making nine three-point shots. They also made good on 15 of 25 attempted free throws. 

Before the game, the Huskies honours a trio of graduating players in Clancey, Jovcic, and Ross. 

The trio also earned Player of the Game honours along with Vukic for the Lions.
