MBB | Kodiaks Increase Win Streak to 7 Games After Going to Battle Against the Aggressive UAA Vikings

February 10, 2023- The Kodiaks Looked to Secure the 2 points in their final home game of the season after an emotional pre-game Sr. acknowledgment presentation with the visiting UAA Vikings looking to steal the Kodiaks thunder as they ride a 6-game winning streak.

The Vikings and Kodiaks kept neck and neck right from the tip-off as it was a race to gain a sustainable lead that set the tone for the rest of the game. Vikings #10 Ryan Degner put up 8 points in the 1st quarter to try and get ahead but the Kodiaks stood strong and were able to hold a narrow 21-20 lead after 10 minutes of play.

The 2nd quarter was no different than the first as both the Vikings and Kodiaks went back and forth with each other trying to get a run and build some momentum as well as putting pressure on the other team. Kodiaks Filip Karanovic was a key contributor to the Kodiaks success in the quarter as he potted 8 points to keep Lethbridge ahead heading into the half with a 41-36 lead.

With an intense start to the 2nd half both teams were looking for a way to get the upper hand and the Kodiaks were awarded with that after being the better team offensively and defensively and clutch when tensions were high and needed those crucial points. Kodiaks Filip Karanoivc continued to be hot and was the man to keep an eye on throughout the 3rd quarter as he was constantly in the right place at the right time picking up 7 points to give the Kodiaks a 62-51 lead heading into the 4th quarter.

With the momentum the Kodiaks picked up at the end of the 3rd quarter, they were able to pick up right where they left off as they continued to grow their lead which began to frustrate the Vikings getting them into foul trouble which only fueled the Kodiaks drive to fight right until the end. After a well-fought battle from both teams, the Kodiaks came out on top victorious taking the game 83-65.
