Men's Basketball Huskies roll offensively in win over Eagles

The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team rolled to another strong offensive performance Friday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre, topping the visiting King's Eagles 93-55. 

Four Huskies finished in double digits, led by a 23-point performance from Taliik Ross that included nine free throw makes as well as a 22-point game from Omeechi Williams that featured six three-point shots. 

Sean-Michael Clancey and DJ Haynes each contributed 13 points to add in the double-digit performances. Ross added 14 rebounds for the lone double-double on either side. 

Cornelius Mingo Jr. came off the bench to lead his visiting Eagles side with 12 points. Anthony Tamburrino was next with nine points while Peter Nyande and Logan Den Oudsten each had eight points in the match.  

The Huskies started the game with a 25-point first quarter, topping it with a 26-point second quarter to take a 51-30 lead at the half. The Eagles nearly matched the Huskies in the third quarter with a 15-13 score in favour of the home side, but the Huskies returned to their offensive and defensive strengths in the fourth quarter with a 27-12 quarter to handily secure the win. 

Williams earned Player of the Game honours for his side while Mingo Jr. earned the accolade for the Eagles. 

The teams will reconvene on Saturday, December 3 for a rematch at 3:00 p.m.
