MBB| Kodiaks Complete Intense Comeback and Jump to 9-0 and Secure Head Coach Ryan Heggie’s 150th Career Victory
The Kodiaks looked to jump to 9-0 as the RDP Kings came to disrupt them and try and break their streak as they faced off in their doubleheader opener.
The Kings wasted no time getting things started as they were instantly in the paint causing chaos to knock the Kodiaks off guard. The Kodiaks were able to get their feet going as the quarter went on but was not enough to get even with the Kings as the Kodiaks fell short 19-23 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Kings continued to hold control of the game throughout most of the 2nd quarter leaving the Kodiaks trying to figure out what they must change to get back in the game. Late in the quarter the Kodiaks were able to dig deep and get themselves back in the game but wasn't enough as the Kings picked up some crucial points to hold onto their lead late in the quarter, closing out the half with a 40-45 lead over Kodiaks.
The Kodiaks started to gain some ground on the Kings outscoring them 22-17 in the 3rd as Kodiaks #14 Adyn Card potted 6 key points to get the Kodiaks right back in the game tied up heading into the 4th and final quarter with the Kodiaks and Kings at 62 apiece.
The Kodiaks kept on fighting and pushed as hard as they could to take control of the game and just passed the halfway mark in the 4th they did just that giving the Kodiaks the lead after a handful of fouls were handed out to both teams which was the turning point for the Kodiaks as they took off as #11 Brady Baines went 3-4 from the 3-point line in the 4th to give Lethbridge the boost they needed to close out the Kings winning by a tight score of 91-88 as well as giving Kodiaks head Coach Ryan Heggie is 150th career victory.
