Men's Basketball Huskies shine offensively in playoff win over Wolves

The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team rolled to a 125-54 win over the Northwest Polytechnic Wolves Sunday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) North Division semi-final.

The win secured their spot in at least the top four of the league for the 2021-22 season with at least two more games on their schedule. 

Sean Michael-Clancey led a quintet of Huskies reaching double-digit points in the contest, dropping 26 points. Jusci Thompson came off the bench with 20 points to record a season high. Also contributing from the bench was Efosa Omorogbe, who knocked down 18 points for a season-high total as well.

Starter Ringo Dau matched Omorogbe with an 18-point effort of his own while Keenan Caribou had 12 points to mark his fourth time in double digits this season. 

Leading 25-11 through the first quarter, the Huskies erupted for 33 points in the second quarter, taking a 34-point lead into the half. That lead swelled to 44 points in the third quarter and the 71-point margin of victory was confirmed in the final quarter. 

Overall, the Huskies shot 53.0 per cent from the field (44-for-83), including 17 three-point shots. They also made 20 of 26 free throw attempts. 

The Wolves were led by Abdul Al-Tamimi and Christian Liwanag, who had 16 and 11 points, respectively. Mason Testwitch and Emmauel Iloka each picked up seven points in the contest. 

From the field, the Wolves shot 31.6 per cent (18-for-57), making a pair of three-point shots. They made good on 16 of their 27 attempts from the foul line. 

Omeechi Williams and Testwitch were named Players of the Game for their respective sides.
