Vikings separate themselves in standings with the win
CAMROSE, AB - In a high scoring affair, the Augustana Vikings took down the Lakeland Rustlers 101-93, Friday night at Augustana Gym.
With the win, the the Vikings separate themselves from the Rustlers with 18 points to remain in second place in the north, while the Rustlers stay in third place with 14 points. The Vikings have one game remaining and then will await to see how the rest of standing play out with the Rustlers having three games ahead.
Leading the way to the win, were veterans Nic Harder and Nathan Bowie both with 20 points on the board. Harder would also add five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Across the court, the Rustlers found leadership from Riley Rathwell who put up 22 points, while adding 2 assists.
Coming out the gate hot, the Vikings acquired a large first quarter lead, 26-16, before their guests drew the second quarter closer, but it would not be enough as the homesite went into halftime with a 47-36 point lead.
After win the third quarter, the Vikings found themselves on their heels with a final quarter push from their guests, as the Rustlers power ahead to win the fourth, 32-25. However, it would not be enough with the Vikings getting the edge, 101-93 at the buzzer.
Looking ahead the Rustler will take on the NAIT Ooks tomorrow night, while the Vikings will head north to take on the NWP Wolves to close out their regular season. Catch all the action ACACtv.
