SAIT Trojans take road decision over Red Deer Polytechnic Kings

Red Deer, AB – It was a tale of two halves between the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and SAIT Trojans.

The Kings held a slight lead after the opening half and then the Trojans' offence started to gain traction. SAIT eventually picked up a 79-67 win at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

The home team started the first quarter on an 11-0 run, but the visitors chipped away. At the half, the Kings held a two point edge (34-32).

RDP's Tyronn King contributed 14 points over two quarters. SAIT's Charlie Conner also scored 14 by the break.

The Trojans outscored the Kings 47-33 in the second half, wrapping up the road decision.

Kevin Szymanek was recognized as the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game. The Bachelor of Business Administration General Management student recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 of his team's 43 boards.

Marcus Masters picked up the honour for the Trojans, totaling 17 points, four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.

Tyronn King led Red Deer Polytechnic with 21 points. Eduardo Crespo chipped in with 20.

Charlie Conner had a team high 20 points. Amin Suleman recorded eight of SAIT's 47 rebounds.

The fourth place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (6-4) will host the second seed SAIT Trojans (9-2) at 8 pm an Friday, February 11.
