GPRC hosts Lakeland for a double header

The GPRC Wolves welcomed the Lakeland Rustlers to their gym for a weekend series. The Wolves hosted RBC Make Some Noise for Mental Health this weekend. Free white shirts at the door, making a sea of white in the crowd.

After 1 minute 20 seconds of play #13 Abdul Al-Timimi sinks both free throws to put the Wolves' first points on the board.

Tying it up to 4-4 just under ½ way through 1st quarter was #10 Riley Rathwell for the Lakeland Rustlers

#4 Rashon Russell went 2 for 2 on free throws to give Lakeland the lead with the score 6-4.

After much back and forth, the score 10-10 remained on the score board for the first quarter.

 

Lakeland starting the second quarter with possession, control the opening play gaining a 2 point lead.

The Wolves, not to be left behind, even out the score with a couple of successful free throws.

Lakeland Rustlers take and extend their lead 20-14 as the clock rolls over halfway through the 2nd quarter and GPRC Wolves call a timeout.

Unfazed by the stoppage in play, the Rustlers continue to grow their lead.

Christian Linwanag, in a decisive move for the Wolves, stuffs the ball for a couple points, and then sinks a 3-pointer shortly after.

With the Rustlers still ahead with 24 seconds left on the clock, Wolves call another timeout.

The score after the 1st half Lakeland Rustlers 38 and the GPRC Wolves 29.

 

Coming back after halftime, Lakeland starts off the scoring with the Wolves matching the move seconds after.  

Al-Timimi sinks a 3 for the Wolves to keep the game in check. And sinks another to continue the trend with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Kwame Okeyere takes a basket and scores on a free throw just before Lakeland calls a Timeout.

Coming back from the timeout, the score stayed static all the way till the end of the quarter.

Ending the 3rd quarter with the Wolves trailing 46 to the Rustlers 54.

 

Coming back after the break, in Rustler fashion continue to build their lead.

Battling back and forth, with both teams earning points and the Wolves not gaining enough ground, they call a timeout.

Bringing the scoring back after the timeout for the GPRC was Christian Linwanag.

After a hard fought 4th quarter, the GPRC Wolves fall to the Lakeland Rustlers 64-56

 

Player of the Game for the Lakeland Rustlers was #2 Artavis Holiday and for the GPRC Wolves #12 Mason Testawitch.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 3pm at GPRC.
