Kings Dominate in Rematch Versus Clippers

Red Deer came out to a blazing 9-0 lead at the start of the first due to powerful rebounding and interior finishing. Briercrest fired back to a 6-0 run for themselves, off the backs of strong shooting. Red Deer continued to assert their dominance in the paint, while also mixing in the three-pointer as they re-extended their lead, eventually leading to a score of 19-13 at the 2-minute mark in the first. More of the same followed, with the Kings closing out the half with a score of 24-15.

The start of the second quarter was competitive, with both teams asserting their physicality and trading baskets off decisive off-ball cuts. Towards the middle of the period, Briercrest began encroaching on Red Deer's lead due to earned and-1 baskets. This cut the score to 39-35 for RDP. Towards the end of the quarter, Briercrest was able to tie Red Deer, before #6 hit a miraculous half-court shot to lead by three, the score was 51-48 Kings.

The Kings started with energy at the start of the second half, dropping seven straight points, before Briercrest dropped six straight of their own, drawing contact in the paint and converting on their free throws. The rest of the quarter continued to be back and fourth, with a pattern of RDP re-extending their lead, followed by a short run of baskets by Briercrest, the score at the end of the third: 81-71.

Red Deer extended their lead even further in the fourth, with Briercrest unable to answer Red Deer's physical drives to the basket. Red Deer took over the game, eventually winning 100-83.

The player of the game awards were given to #15 Antonio Benjamin for RDP with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, and #8 Jude Shepherd-Hills for Briercrest with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
