Broncos Men’s Basketball's team efforts lead to a win

Olds College Broncos win over the St.Mary's University Lightning with a score of 109-97 on January 22, 2022 at the Ralph Klein Centre.
The first quarter was close as both teams battled to take the lead and keep it. The Lightning's Caleb Jipp and Averie Armbrister lead the team in points in the first quarter while teammate Kamal Pennant contributes with four defensive rebounds. Olds College's Lake Del Mar, Adrian Deere and Nathan Calkins help the Broncos keep the score close. The final score headed into the second quarter was 26-25 for St.Mary's.
Another close quarter for both teams keeping the score within a few points the entire ten minutes. Again, the Lightning's Armbrister is a leader on the court and the scoreboard. The Broncos Deere and Calkins work together to earn a combined eleven of the teams fifteen points in the quarter. At halftime St. Mary's University lead over the Broncos 43-40.
The third quarter is when the Broncos kicked it into high gear earning forty-one points. The Broncos worked hard as a team and each contributed to the team's success. Mobin Ali was on fire at the three point line scoring fifteen points. St. Mary's Lightning fought hard but just couldn't keep up with the Broncos scoring. At the end of the third quarter the Broncos lead the Lighting with a score of 81-63.
The Broncos didn't have as good of a scoring quarter but still a strong ten minutes where the team worked together to secure the win. Adrian Deere, Austin Nzige-Nyambok and Tyreik Lennox contributed to the scoreboard for the Broncos. While the Lightning's Ryan Morck contributed fifteen of the thirty-four points in the period.
The player of the game for St. Mary's Lighting was number 13, Averie Armbrister and the player of the game for the Broncos was number 12, Nathan Calkins.
