Ooks Lose Close Game to Vikings

The NAIT Ooks Men's Basketball team faced the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings Saturday afternoon in the NAIT Gymnasium for their home opener. After losing to the Vikings Friday night, the Ooks came ready to play a fast-paced game Saturday afternoon, unfortunaltey it wasn't enough as they lost 88-79.

After winning the tip-off to start the game, the play continued to go back and forth, with the score not being more than two baskets apart. At the end of the first quarter, the Ooks were down by one with a score of 24-23.

The second quarter continued to stay close. The Ooks and the Vikings were tied at halftime with a score of 39-39.

After the half, the game's speed did not slow down as both teams kept up the pace from the first half.

The Ooks started to lose momentum as they struggled to keep up with the Vikings. This resulted in the Ooks being down by 11 after the third quarter, with 55-66.

The fourth quarter was a close one as the Ooks worked hard to catch the Vikings. With two-minutes left in the game, the Ooks were down by two baskets. These last two-minutes were intense as both teams worked hard to win the game. With the Vikings in bonus, every defensive foul against them sent them to the line where they were successful. This allowed the Vikings to increase their lead, resulting in the Ooks losing with a final score of 88-79.

The players of the game were #8 Dante Dinter from the Ooks and #15 Tyler Weenick from the Vikings.
