Big Response Saturday in rematch with Ambrose

Briercrest Men's Basketball hosted Ambrose University in a rematch Saturday afternoon.
Immediately, Briercrest opened with more fire and energy as they pushed a harder offense and
drove to the basket. The entire quarter was back and forth shot for shot trading baskets. In the
last couple of seconds Briercrest made a perfect layup to tie the first quarter at 15-15 for even
footing going into the second.

On the edge of seats, the second quarter was filled with more back and forth trading shot for
shot. Strong shooting at 3 by #4 Riley Seaborn gave Briercrest the lead for a leg before Ambrose
responded to match. Both teams more than double their scores and in the final second #8 Jude
Shepherd-Hills scores a perfect 3 to give the Clippers a lead at 42-41 into the second half.

The Clippers opened the second half with an energised break away despite Ambrose pulling
ahead in the first two minutes. But Briercrest quickly responds with a swift offense and #4 at 3 to
tie up with a minute left. Though Ambrose pulled ahead again, #13 closes in with a last second 3
to make it 25-23.

Opening the final frame, #8 and #13 together sink a run of strong shooting at 3 to pull ahead.
With swift rebounds, Briercrest was able to pull ahead into the final minute as Ambrose fought
to match. The last minute stretched long as both teams strategically used their Time Outs to
advance the ball and squeeze as much from the final minute as they could. Both teams pressured
hard to the end with Briercrest's #13 gaining the winning 4 points in free throws, coming out on
top at 96-89.

Player of the game was presented by Max Summach to #10 Isaac Gray for 21 points, 2 assists, 12
rebounds, and 4 steals; and to Briercrest's #13 Chris (Yogi) Cheatham for 18 points, 11 assists, 6
rebounds, and 5 steals.

Christopher "Yogi" Cheatham spoke on his relationship with the team and goals going forward
after the game. "As one of the veteran guys on the team, it'll be exciting to be able to help lead
the guys toward play offs as we all become a better working unit. A couple years ago we nearly
made it to Play Offs, I look forward to getting us there this year."
