The final game of Day 1 of the 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championships wrapped up with the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings versing the Ambrose University Lions.
The Lions off the bat took possession of the ball which fed their lead of the first half of the first quarter 29-17. Vikings called a timeout with a minute left of the quarter to re-strategize their approach and to take a moment to refocus. However, the Lions continued to come out strong and are hitting 3's left right and center in the offensive zone. The Lions take the lead after the first quarter, 37-21.
Entering into the second quarter, the Lions continued to hold a strong defensive zone and played strategically offensively making it a challenge for the Vikings. But the Vikings did not stop gaining momentum and found new strategies to get points in the offensive zone. At halftime, the Lions still remained in the lead against the Vikings, 57- 41. Both teams had strong energy and fought hard, but the Lions held their lead and defeated the Vikings with a win of 95-85.
The 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championship Player of the Game presented by Chris Rempel on behalf of Cargill, was awarded to Vikings player, #15 Spencer Marion and Lions player, #5 Linden Jackson.
