King's Eagles On Top After Badminton Interlock #2

Edmonton, AB (February 6, 2022) - NAIT hosted the second ACAC badminton tournament of the season. It was an exciting day of competition for all four participating schools, but the King's University Eagles came out on top with the highest amount of team points.

TKU finished first with 172 points, the second was the NAIT Ooks with 152, the third was the Concordia Thunder with 114, and in fourth was the Olds Broncos with 64 points.

This is the last scheduled tournament before the badminton championships, so all the players brought their A-game to the court. The men's singles finals were a battle between Smit Patel from the NAIT Ooks and Narayan Ramdhani from TKU. Patel came out on top to win first place. Next up was the women's singles finals. Johnna Rymes faced off against her teammate Jasleen Kaur from the Concordia Thunder. Rymes took the win for the second tournament in a row.

Men's doubles were an exciting event as Smit Patel, and Davis Wong from NAIT took on David Jay and Alex Steward from TKU in the finals. Jay and Stewart won first in the first tournament, but Patel and Wong took it home in the second. Women's doubles were a battle between TKU and the Concordia Thunder. Jasleen Kaur and Johnna Rymes from Concordia won the first tournament, but pair Abigail Ledda and Cecilia Wolski from TKU were ready for their rematch. Kaur and Rymes came out on top for the second tournament in a row.

The mixed doubles final was also a rematch from the first tournament. TKU players Narayan Ramdhani and Abigail Ledda beat Smit Patel and Ivy Ung from the NAIT Ooks two weeks ago. Both teams were ready to compete, but the duo from TKU kept their winning streak alive.

The next badminton event will be the ACAC Badminton Championships held at Olds College.
