ACAC Congratulates RDP Queens Volleyball on Hall of Fame Induction

(June 11, 2025) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference proudly congratulates the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Queens Volleyball team (1981–1989) on their official induction into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.

A true dynasty in collegiate sport, the Queens dominated ACAC women’s volleyball throughout the 1980s, amassing a near-perfect 178–5 regular-season record, including three undefeated seasons and an astounding 90-set winning streak. Their run of eight consecutive ACAC Championships and eight national medals, including CCAA gold in 1984, made them one of the most decorated teams in Canadian collegiate history.

“The 1981–89 RDP Queens were a dynasty in every sense. Eight straight ACAC titles, a national championship, and multiple national medals speak to just how dominant they were. In the history of ACAC women’s volleyball, their run stands as one of the most remarkable and likely unrepeatable achievements.”
Mark Kosak, CEO, Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference

The 1981–1989 RDP Queens are among 14 inductees in the 2025 Alberta Sports Hall of Fame class, joining legendary names such as six-time Olympic medalist Clara Hughes. Their impact on the ACAC and Canadian sport goes beyond the records and trophies. They helped shape the future of the game and remain a source of pride among collegiate volleyball communities.

The ACAC extends heartfelt congratulations to the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball program on this well-deserved honour!
