North Coach of The Year:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Taylor Dyer of the Lakeland Rustlers has been named the ACAC Men’s Volleyball North Coach of the Year.

This is the first time Dyer has received the Coach of the Year award. Dyer is working to complete his Level 3 coaching certification and also holds an Education degree. This will be the second consecutive year that Dyer has led the Rustlers into the ACAC Championships. The Rustlers finished the regular season with a 9 and 7 record.

“Taylor has developed into a strong coach over the last few years,” commented Alan Rogan, Lakeland’s athletic director. “He works to instill a passion for the game into the student-athletes on the team and challenges them to strive for success at all times.”

Dyer also works with student-athletes on the coaching aspect, engaging many of the student-athletes as coaches with the Rustlers club volleyball program and in camps over the year.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by NAIT in Edmonton, Alberta.

South Coach of The Year:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Ryan Marsden of the Olds College Broncos as the ACAC Men’s Volleyball South Division Coach of the Year.

Marsden arrived at Olds College in 2018 and made an immediate impact on the program by quickly turning around after leading the team to a 6-18 record in 2019-20, the best since 1990-91 and more wins than 2012-19 combined. Marsden was also selected as ACAC South Men's Volleyball Coach of The Year in 2019-20, the first in program history.

The 2021-22 season saw further growth of the Broncos Men’s Volleyball program as Marsden led the Broncos to a third-place finish in the ACAC South Division and a 10-6 overall record which saw his program win nine straight conference games to end the season. The 2021-22 season also featured the first home playoff game in the Marsden era as he has built an impressive culture that emulates respect, accountability, and teamwork.

Prior to taking over as the Olds College Broncos Head Coach in 2018, Marsden was the Head Coach for the SAIT Trojans Men’s Volleyball program from 2007 – 2012. At SAIT, Marsden led the team to an ACAC Provincial Championship (2010) and a Silver medal at CCAA Nationals (2010). Prior to his time with the Trojans, he coached at Mount Royal University, University of Alberta, and University College of the Cariboo (Thompson Rivers University).

“Our Olds College Broncos staff is fortunate to have Ryan lead our Broncos Men's Volleyball program.  He honours the Bronco's values by his commitment to empowering and developing great human beings both on and off the court.  Ryan will be the first to say that it takes a village to be recognized for this award and we want to recognize his efforts as a mentor and leader for this group of young men,” stated Athletics Manager Trina Radcliffe.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by NAIT in Edmonton, AB.
