Carole Holt named ACAC 2017-18 Women’s Soccer North Division Coach of the Year

Edmonton, October 26 , 2017 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that NAIT Ooks women's soccer coach Carole Holt has been selected as the 2017 ACAC North Division Coach of the Year.
The Ooks finished the regular season with a 9-1 record, good enough for a 1st place tie in the North division with the GPRC Wolves. NAIT finished 1st in the ACAC in shots (223), goals scored (45), and had the 2nd fewest goals allowed (3).
Carole began coaching in 1994 and has worked extensively with elite junior and senior players aged 15-25 years. She also has previous coaching experience at the collegiate and university level with the Concordia University College Thunder (1994-95) and as an assistant coach with University of Alberta Pandas (1996 & 2006-09). Additionally, Carole was the head coach of the Edmonton Angels Soccer Club (2000-02) and a part of numerous Provincial teams (both as a Head Coach and as an Assistant Coach) since 1994.
Carole holds a National B License Award with the Canadian Soccer Association and has been involved with soccer both as a coach and player in Alberta, Ontario and England for over 25 years. As a player, Carole represented Alberta at various levels (U16, U18, U23) and was identified as a player for the Canadian Women's Soccer Team in 1995. She played for the Grant MacEwan Griffins (1994) and the University of Alberta Pandas (1997-99), winning CIS gold in 1997 and CIS Silver in 2000. She also played for the Edmonton Angels Soccer Club (Alberta Major Soccer League) for 10 years, winning the Jubilee Shield (Club National Championship) in 1995, 1999 and 2000.

Carole and her staff are committed to the holistic development of our student-athletes that has translated into excellence both in the classroom and on the pitch."
Carole leads her NAIT Ooks this weekend at the 2017 ACAC women's soccer championship hosted at Olds College. The Ooks earned a bye to Saturday's first semi-final where they will face the winner of the quarter-final match between the Medicine Hat Rattlers and the Concordia Thunder.
