Alexi Watson Honoured as 2017-18 ACAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year

OLDS, AB., (October 26, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves women's soccer player, Alexi Watson has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year.  The award is sponsored by the Alberta Soccer Associaion and provides a student-athlete scholarship. 

Watson, a rookie striker from Grande Prairie, Alberta, made an immediate impression on the Wolves and the league, by leading GPRC in scoring this season with nine goals in ten games. She is calm, confident and one of the most talented players on the field. Her ability to provide excellent support and direction through her awareness of time and space in the penalty box, while also showing tremendous work ethic by her capability to start lightening quick counterattacks with accurate passes up front, leaves her as one of the most dangerous players to defend.

Head Coach, Chris Morgan is delighted that Alexi is another homegrown player who is blessed with fantastic pace and has an eye for goal. Alexi has made the transition to college soccer with ease scoring a hat trick in her first conference game. The first-year Bachelor of Education student is an excellent team player that communicates well with her teammates stepping into a leadership role on the field. We are very proud of her accomplishments this season.

This prestigious award was presented to Alexi Watson at the 2017 ACAC Women's Soccer Championship Ceremony held on October 26, 2017 at Pomeroy Inn & Suites at Olds College.
