ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Stef Vullinghs continued to make his mark on the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), scoring four goals and adding an assist in two home weekend wins against the Concordia Thunder.
Saturday, Vullinghs assisted on the team's first goal and scored the second near the end of the first half to build a 2-0 lead that the Huskies would not relinquish. For his efforts, Vullings was named the Player of the Game.
The rookie from Vlijmen, The Netherlands upped his game Sunday with a hat trick in a 5-1 win against the Thunder. Vullings scored in the ninth, 22nd, and 39th minutes to account for the second, fourth, and fifth goals of the game for the Huskies.
"It isn't just him," said Head Coach Niels Slotboom. "The team as a whole is starting to come together so that's going to open other people up and going to give more high-quality chances across the board.
"Stef is good at getting on those and today it's three and who know what it'll be in the weekend following this one."
Vullings is also charting his way up the ACAC leaderboard with six goals and an assist to rank second for goals in the division and in a tie for third in the entire conference.
The Huskies are on the road for a single-game this coming weekend. Saturday, they'll venture south to Lac la Biche, Alta. to take on the Portage College Voyageurs in the finale of their season series.
