ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Fifth-year left-side Lana Matthews finished her season on fire for the Lakeland Rustlers, earning Tournament MVP honors at the CCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The Rustlers secured their third straight national title—the fourth in program history—while completing a perfect 25-0 season.

Matthews delivered outstanding two-way play for Lakeland, demonstrating exceptional touch on first contact and leading her team in kills across all three matches. In Game 1, she recorded 9 kills with no errors, along with an ace, 6 digs, and 3 blocks, earning Player of the Game honors. The following night, she maintained her efficiency with 10 kills, no hitting errors, 2 aces, 5 digs, and a block. In the championship match, Matthews added 10 kills, 3 aces, 10 digs, and 2 blocks to cap off a stellar weekend.

Her 10-set total: 31 kills, 6 aces, 21 digs, and 6 blocks—a weekend to remember from a career filled with standout moments.

Lana Matthews has completed her fifth collegiate season in the ACAC. She is currently in her third year at Lakeland College, pursuing a Business Administration degree.
