ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Briercrest Clippers forward Carter Waind has been named the ACAC Athlete of the Week after delivering a series of outstanding performances that helped propel his team to their first-ever ACAC Championship. Waind, a fourth-year Biblical Studies student from Kirkland, QC, has demonstrated exceptional leadership on the court and his ability to step up in crucial moments was instrumental in the Clippers’ playoff success.
In the semi-final matchup against the NAIT Ooks, Waind electrified the home crowd with an opening dunk just two seconds into the game, setting the tone for an intense battle. He was a dominant force in the final quarter, scoring 13 of his 22 total points and playing a crucial role in the Clippers' dramatic comeback victory. His clutch shooting and relentless effort on both ends of the floor helped secure a 93-88 win, sending Briercrest to the championship game.
Waind’s playoff run began with a solid performance in the quarterfinals, where he contributed 10 points, five rebounds, and one steal to help the Clippers advance. However, it was in the semi-final that he truly made his mark, recording 27 points and seven rebounds in a gutsy display of determination and skill.
In the championship game against the reigning national champions, the Keyano Huskies, Waind once again delivered when it mattered most. He finished with 13 points, five rebounds.
