Jameson Kiezik, NAIT Ooks, Men's Soccer

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jameson Kiezik fulfills his striking duties to the fullest. With a high soccer IQ and the ability to create opportunities for himself and his teammates, he’s been instrumental in helping the Ooks secure their spot as one of the top offensive teams in the league, tying for the most goals scored at 20. After a hard-earned four-point weekend, Kiezik and the Ooks climbed to second place in the standings with a 5-1-2 record.

Jameson’s impact was significant as he jumped from 6th place (10 pts) on the points leaderboard to a tie for 3rd with 15 points (7G, 1A). In Saturday's matchup against a strong Lakeland Rustlers team (N3, 4-2-3), Jameson opened the scoring in the 28th minute, assisted by Hossie Kifle. Later in the half, he set up third-year Peter Jones to secure a crucial 2-2 draw for the Ooks.

On Sunday, the Ooks faced cross-town rivals, the Concordia Thunder (N5, 3-5-1), where Kiezik’s smart decision-making came into play once more. He capitalized on a rebound off Lungelo Napa’s strike, slotting the ball past the keeper to put the Ooks up 2-1, ultimately contributing to their 3-1 victory. Kiezik finished the match with 4 shots and 3 on goal.

Jameson is a first-year Bachelor of Business Administration student from Edmonton, AB, and has quickly established himself as a key player in the Ooks’ attack.
