Gracey Smithson, Lakeland Rustlers, Women's Soccer

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Few players can start a soccer season as on fire as Gracey Smithson did for the Lakeland Rustlers this weekend.

The third-year striker was instrumental in the Rustlers' performances, delivering a masterclass in finishing and playmaking. Smithson scored six of the team's seven goals and assisted the only one she didn’t find the back of the net for. Her hunger to get on the ball, even in tight spaces, combined with her relentless pressing of the opposition, set the tone for Lakeland’s dominant attack.

Playing fearless and with freedom, Smithson remained the focal point even when the opposition adjusted in the second game, proving her quality as a top-class striker. Her ability to shine in both games, regardless of the defensive pressure, was key to the Rustlers' success. An amazing weekend for the Lloydminster local.

Gracey Smithson is in her third year of the University Transfer program.
