After a one-year gold medal hiatus, the Keyano College Huskies maouvered their way to their fifth  Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Futsal banner in the last six years, with a penalty shootout 3-2 score against the Olds College Broncos Saturday at the 2018 ACAC Men’s Futsal Championships.

Huskies beat Lethbridge College Kodiaks 9-1, Lakeland College Rustlers 10-2, Ambrose University Lions 7-2 and defending champ Medicine Hat Rattlers 6-5 in the semi-final to advance to the final held in Lloydminster, Alberta and hosted by the Lakeland College Rustlers.

Playing with no substitutions in the gold medal game, a key factor in the win and the entire tournament, was the all-around play of striker Eduardo Filho.

“What he did in the tournament was unbelievable," said Huskies head coach Murad Sukru., of the second year student/athlete from Paracatu, Brazil. “Due to injury he was playing with half a knee and he fought through it the entire tournament. He contributed not only in scoring or assists but he led the team on the field. He won every 50/50 battle."
